Updated: Apr 11, 2020

Welcome to this week's first Flash Fiction edition! Check back in over the week to see the rest! I will add one every day! Cheers!

1-5-2020

Prompt word: disinter

There were many who disagreed with the verdict. Even now, as the ground began to shake and break under the onslaught of the excavator's, masse's had gathered with angry words and signs. "How dare they #disinter the victims!?! Let them rest in peace!" Came the shouts. #vss365

1-4-2020

Prompt word: latent

She opened her eyes slowly. Her head still throbbed. The power that rushed through her a potent thing. Once #latent tendrils of magic now raced through her veins. Their dying world was waking up, filling her people with enough power to destroy themselves. The soil shook... #vss365

1-3-2020

Prompt word: unicorn

The villagers had never seen his like. They fawned over him, touching him as they led him into the square where the elders gathered. Their eyes were filled with awe, but that only made him angry. He pushed past the people in a huff. "I'm not a goddamned #unicorn !" #vss365

1-2-2020

Prompt word: obfuscate

Their goal has always been the same. To #obfuscate and render reality inconsequential. Our world is dying, but the people do not understand. Their leaders have worked hard on misdirection. They will die confused, caught flat-footed by the truth that is suffocating them. #vss365

1-1-2020

Prompt word: charlatan

They had made up their minds before I entered the room. It was obvious. I had spoken of my home to these people. A place far different from the primitive surroundings of this village lost to time. I regretted my words. They still burned those they labeled #charlatan . #vss365

12-31-2019

Prompt word: encore

He was known for the death defying, but this was different. He wasn't getting up. The crowd still cheered. Still excited for the stunt. But he was too still in that box. Nothing that carried life looked like that. This was not a trick. There would be no #encore. #vss365

12-30-2019

Prompt word: cocoon

I watch her as she sleeps. Her tiny hands wrapped tight around a lovey, I watch the darting movements of her eyes beneath closed lids. Evidence of adventures. Of far away lands and dancing gum drops. The #cocoon of dreams a welcome reprieve from the insistent ache of hunger. #vss365
